Employment Officer


We are looking for an employment officer to join our team at our Oakside packhouse in Te Puke. As an employment officer at Oakside, you will enjoy a high energy and fast-paced role, which requires the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. 

You will be an enthusiastic team-player, have an eye for detail and be an effective problem solver. The employment officer role is responsible for the recruitment and on boarding of our seasonal workforce, maintaining accurate employment and wage records, as well as managing all the data and administration for the packhouse and related programmes. This role also involves leading a team to success so you will need to be a people person who loves to interact with a variety of stakeholders.

Skills and competencies: 

  • Understanding of NZ Employment Law and practices specifically in relation to the recruitment and on-boarding of staff, payroll and employment contracts.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety Legislation and practices
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a dynamic and changeable work environment
  • Strong confidential nature
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Intermediate

Experience and qualifications:

  • 3 years coordinator level experience working with large diverse teams of people in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working within kiwifruit, horticulture or primary industry;
  • Experience in recruitment and shift rostering;
  • Prefer qualification Business Administration, Human Resources or a related discipline.
