Senior Financial Accountant


We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at our Head Office in Te Puke.

This role is an integral member of Seeka’s Finance Team, reporting to the Group Financial Controller [“GFC”]. The role of the Senior Financial Accountant is to ensure that Seeka operates to the highest standard of Group financial reporting, analysis, and transaction processing, and maintains robust accounting systems and processes. The role supports the GFC in ensuring that Seeka produces accurate and timely financial reports in compliance with NZ IFRS regulations and NZX rules, and that financial management exceeds best practice.

You will play a pivotal role in preparing, consolidating, reconciling, and reviewing the Group’s financial reports, serve as a key member of the annual financial audit, and assist the GFC in maintaining a financial reporting system appropriate for a dynamic NZX-listed business operating across New Zealand and Australia.

The role oversees monthly accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting for Seeka’s wider group subsidiaries, associates and other acquisitions as required.

You will be supported by a junior financial accountant and will be responsible for the performance and development of this position

In addition, the Senior Financial Accountant is accountable for recommending and implementing key accounting policies and principles for their business units.

You will lead the monthly Group consolidated management reporting process and support the GFC in preparing the half-year and audited year-end financial statements. This includes working closely with external auditors and preparing NZ IFRS compliant Group financial statements as well as annual financial statements for the Australian subsidiary.

From time to time, and as required, you will also engage in diligence, integration, or other processes around corporate commercial projects, including acquisitions, divestments, capital projects or lease proposals.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3+ years post-qualification experience in a commercial business environment, preferably within a manufacturing, produce, or agricultural industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of NZ IFRS and financial reporting standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in Group consolidations, statutory reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Proven experience managing or mentoring finance staff.
  • Advanced Excel and systems proficiency; experience with modern financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Experience preparing accurate and concise financial reports and analysis.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, regulatory and compliance requirements.
