Automation Technician


We are looking to recruit an Automation Technician at our Oakside site in Te Puke. You will enjoy a dynamic role, which requires the ability to provide troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of automated equipment on site.

The Automation Technician is responsible for ensuring that preventative maintenance, testing of automated equipment is done regularly to ensure they are operating correctly, and performing repairs when necessary. Operate Spectrim/NIR technology to optimise productivity within the postharvest facility.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Set up, maintain and troubleshoot automated production systems
  • Optimise Spectrim and NIR technology to maximise throughputs
  • Conduct testing to evaluate performance of automated systems
  • Operate Machinery/automation to the specifications of the packhouse manager in accordance with Seeka policy and procedures
  • Maintain records of automated systems
  • Develop and implement modification to automated systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance on automated systems
  • Assist with the development of training materials for other operators

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Ability to operate and maintain automated machines and systems
  • Knowledge of programming languages and software applications related to automation eg. Spectrim, sizer software, freshpack
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Flexible/adaptive/resilient: Able to shift strategies and accept other viewpoints. Adapt quickly and effectively to changing/unexpected changing situations. Able to overcome disappointments and learn from setbacks.
  • Health and safety: Awareness of H&S legislative requirements around machinery
  • Previous industry knowledge experience or similar
