Spray Coordinator


We are seeking a motivated and experienced Horticulture Spray Coordinator to join our team in Kerikeri. This is a crucial, hands-on leadership role for an individual passionate about plant health, safety, and operational excellence. You will be responsible for planning and executing all aspects of our crop protection program, ensuring compliance and optimal yield. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the Programme: Responding to and communicating with requests from internal customers (Orchard Managers, Leadership Team etc), adjusting for conditions.
  • Spray Planning & Execution: Develop and implement detailed spray plans and schedules based on orchard needs, weather forecasts, and crop growth stages.
  • Chemical Management: Oversee the safe handling, preparation, inventory, and secure storage/disposal of all agrichemicals, adhering strictly to New Zealand regulations.
  • Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate and maintain a range of spray equipment, ensuring proper calibration and troubleshooting any mechanical issues.
  • Compliance & Safety Leadership: Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring all team members use correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and all operations meet health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Record-Keeping & Reporting: Maintain meticulous and accurate application records for auditing and compliance purposes.
  • Team Supervision: Lead, train, and supervise spray operators/technicians, monitoring their work to ensure quality and efficiency.
What We Are Looking For?
  • Experience: Proven, hands-on experience in a horticultural or agricultural setting, ideally in a spray or crop management role.
  • Qualifications: Relevant New Zealand certifications in pesticide application and safety (e.g. Growsafe certification) are essential.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of effective agrichemical use.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to mixing rates, application accuracy, and record-keeping.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with the wider orchard management team.
  • Attitude: A reliable, self-motivated individual with a commitment to continuous improvement and safety.
